The Sri Krishna Committee is scheduled to visit North Andhra districts from July 21 to 23. The  frontline political parties will appear before the panel and express their views on the bifurcation of the state.

Except for Bharatiya Janata Party all other political parties are  expected to give their opinion for an integrated  state. Prominent leaders like Botsa  Satyanarayana and Yerrannaidu had given a brief report about the backwardness of the state.

Organisations like the Uttarandhra Rakshana Vedika, Uttarandhra Hakkula Porata Vedika, Uttarandhra Adhyayana Vedika and will speak about the decades of apathy shown by consecutive governments to the region, the failure of developmental planning. Even the cultural divide between the ‘Coastal Andhra’ and the ‘Uttarandhra region’ may be expressed by the people’s organisations.

The concept of North Andhra backwardness was first identified by organisations like ‘Kalinga Vedika’, Uttarandhra Jala Sadhana Samiti, ’Uttarandhra Rachaitalu and Kalakarula Vedika. It may be recalled that people’s organisations are demanding a separate ‘Uttarandhra State’ or union territory status for Visakhapatnam.

One of the major causes of unrest among the people in this region lies in the name of ‘Coastal Andhra’. North Andhra has been sidelined and its developmental planning was given the go-by by the leaders of the frontline political parties. North Andhra identity was recognised officially by YSR when he announced the four development boards including the one for  'Uttarandhra'

One more complaint among the people of this region is the political representation. Several non locals are representing the N.Andhra region in Parliament and Asembly. Even at the local levels  the representation has been dominated by the non locals. The native leaders of this region feel that the non locals are dominating in transactions of agricultural lands, trade and commerce and even in education sector.

The representatives of the Students Joint Action Committee(JAC) on Monday met with the members of the Sri Krishna Committee and prevailed upon them not to plan the visit of Uttarandhra only on the basis of information given by the officials.
