Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday demanded Chief Minister K Rosaiah’s resignation for his failure to stop illegal projects being constructed by Maharashtra and Karnataka on Krishna and Godavari Rivers.

Making his intentions clear in the House, the TDP leader demanded the government to stop construction of barrage on Godavari River in Babli by Maharashtra state.

He also demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation for his failure to take steps for checking the height of dam as it would affect thousands of farmers in the state, particularly in Telangana region.

Irked by the remarks of Opposition leader, Chief Minister K Rosaiah asked Naidu when his government faced such failures did he submit resignation to his post.

Criticizing the Chief Minister's attitude over the issue, Naidu said the government has totally failed in checking the 14 projects taken up on Godavari river by Maharashtra.

Following the lenient attitude of Andhra Pradesh, the Maharashtra state has called  tenders for another four projects on Godavari, Naidu alleged.

He alleged that the CM and Congress party were working most irresponsibly and failed to protect the interests of state farmers.
