The Opposition parties on Tuesday insisted for discussion on the allotment of iron ore mines in Bayyaram mandal of Khammam district to the kin of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

When the House met for the day, the Opposition TDP members raised slogans and introduced adjournment motion, demanding discussion on Bayyaram issue for the second day. CPI member Sambhasiva Rao trooped into Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy’s podium seeking discussion.

However, the Speaker rejected the Opposition’s adjournment motion and said the House needs to discuss illegal projects taken up by other states on Krishna and Godavari Rivers.

When the Opposition members did not relent and insisted for discussion on the issue, the Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes.

Later, the Speaker invited all party floor leaders to his chambers for discussion on the issue and sought their cooperation in the smooth functioning of the House.

When the House reassembled again, the TDP leader demanded that Chief Minister K Rosaiah should make a statement on allotment of mines in Bayyaram mandal and insisted for discussion.

The allotment of 1.37 acres of land in Bayyaram to Rakshana Steels managed by YSR’s son-in-law  Anil Kumar and brother-in-law Ravindranath Reddy is the cause for turmoil in the House.
