The Opposition Telugu Desam Party intends to put the ruling Congress in the dock during the monsoon session of the Assembly beginning Wednesday.

According to sources, the Business Advisory Committee of the Legislative Assembly, which met under the chairmanship of Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday decided to hold the session till July 15.

Earlier, the Congress proposed to conduct the session up to July 13. However, the Opposition Leader N Chandrababu Naidu entered into heated argument with Chief Minister demanding that the House sit for at least 10 days to deliberate important issues facing the state. Later, the speaker agreed to extend the session for two more days that is July 15.

BJP leader G Kishan Reddy, Praja Rajyam floor leader K Chiranjeevi, Lok Satta leader Jaya Prakash Narayan and leaders of other parties were present in the Business Advisory Committee meeting.

The Speaker also decided to hold evening sessions for  four days.The house plans to discuss illegal projects taken up by Maharashtra and Karnataka governments on Krishna and Godavari rivers, the plight of farmers, increase in prices of essential commodities.

The Opposition might rake up auctioning of liquor licences, corruption charges against ministers and reimbursement of fee and scholarships issue.

It seems the government is likely to introduce seven Bills and three ordinances during the session.Interestingly, the House is commencing its session coinciding with the 61st birth  anniversary of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

In the wake of assembly session, the police made elaborate security arrangements to prevent untoward incidents.
