With the Model Code of  Conduct coming into force  on Friday in all the 12 assembly segments of Telangana region, the Election Commission  is  taking all steps to ensure that all the political  parties  abide by the rules.

The State electoral officer I V Subba Rao appealed to all political parties in the State to cooperate with the Government authorities for the smooth conduct of by-polls.

The commissioner requested the Opposition parties to  extend  their  support as  the Election Commission has decided to use Electronic Voting  Machines much  against their wishes.  He assured the Opposition parties  that adequate number of EVMs have been procured and all steps have been taken to ensure that all the EVMs function properly.

If rules  are  violated  by any political  party  then strict action  would be taken against that political party irrespective of its status. The election commission is  keeping  a strict vigil against the distribution of money during the elections in all the  constituencies where polling  is  being held.

During the election time the  election commission will take  all precautions  to  close all the belt and wine  shops in all the 12  segments where the  by-elections are taking place.

No politician, however popular he may be, if  he makes any  provocative statement will be taken to task, he  cautioned.
