Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday requested the Telugu Desam leadership to join the Congress team which is going to New Delhi to apprise the Prime Minister of the unauthorised constructions being taken up by Maharashtra government over the river Godavari.

Earlier, a delegation of TDP leaders met Chief Minister K Rosaiah to direct the Maharashtra Government over the 14 illegal projects including the Babli launchged in contravention of Supreme Court orders.

Ponnam also dared Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao (TRS) to prove his charge that byelections to two seats in Telangana were put off at Congress behest.

The MP told newsmen that Vemulawada and Sircilla bypolls were put off due to a plot by TRS leader T Harish Rao.He challenged Harish Rao to prove his allegations. “If he proves that the polls were put off at the instance of the Congress, I will abdicate my MP seat,” he said.

Prabhakar alleged that  Harish Rao got the elections postponed as he was unable to tolerate the growing clout of K T Rama Rao, son of the TRS chief  K Chandrasekhara Rao in Sirisilla.

Harish Rao had misled the Election Commission about the Congress. The party never asked the EC to put off polls to the two seats, he claimed.

He said he and other party MPs would meet the Prime Minister to complain about the contempt of court committed by the Maharashtra government on the Babili project. He has appealed to the TDP to join the Congress to meet the Prime Minister on the issue.
