To a question, the EO said some women visit the temple with their provocative best such as tight jeans and other see through clothes on.Rao said it is customary for women to wear sarees and dhotis for men, but many wear whatever they like.

He said the Ttd’s male employees will wear dhotis and white T-shirts, and women sarees. If the Tirupati temple prescribes a dress code, it will become obligatory for women to wear sarees or  traditional Indian dress, he stated.

However, men devotees wearing dhoti and kanduva (upper garment) and female  wearing sari-blouse or chudidars would be permitted.

The Ttd will implement the code in a  phased manner on public demand, he said. If the pilgrims respond positively to the new dress code, the Ttd would make it mandatory for all visitors to the shrine.
