Oppn MLAs takes up padayatra

Hyderabad, Aug 21 :

 Condemning the state government’s attitude for delaying in announcing the list of drought-hit areas, the Telugu Desam and Communist party MLAs on Friday took out padayatra from B R Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund Road to the Assembly.

After garlanding the statue of B R Ambedkar, the members under the leadership of the Telugu Desam Legislature Party Leader, N Chandrababu Naidu, took out padayatra from Tank Bund to the Assembly raising slogans against the Chief Minister, whom they charged with running away from the House when it was discussing drought.

Naidu wondered why the Chief Minister was reluctant to make a declaration on drought when he himself narrated it as the worse in 50 years with rainfall deficit between 50 per cent.

“It is unfortunate to link the drought issue in the state with the bankers meeting,” he regretted.
Instead of mounting counter-attacks on the Opposition, the Chief Minister should give top priority for discussing drought issue, he quipped.
