Scoffing at rumours that Praja Rajyam would merge with some party, PRP leader K Chiranjeevi said vested interests were spreading such canards to get political mileage.

Praja Rajyam would not merge or submerge with any other party as it is intent on maintaining its identity, Chiranjeevi indicated at the party's executive committe meeting on Wednesday.

The Telugu Desam and the Congress parties have launched a campaign against PRP fearing it would pose a threat to them, he pointed out.“None of these parties can uproot PRP in the state,” he thundered.

Addressing newsmen later at the Filmnagar Club, Chiranjeevi said he would not stand an obstacle in the way of those who want to quit the party. He observed that those who deserted the party had joined it with a motive of making money through short-cut methods.

“If any one in the party has a problem with me or the party policies, can sort it out at the political affairs committee meeting,” he suggested.
