The bodies of the pilots have been identified as pilot Suresh Maurya and co-pilot Rahul Nair. According to a senior police officer, one of the pilots had ejected just before the crash but did not survive as his parachute failed to open.

The police officer further said both the bodies of the pilots have been charred badly while one of the seven injured persons on the ground had suffered burns.

Seven persons who were injured in the crash are being treated in the nearby hospital.

Swinging into action quickly, the fire personnel used the Aviation Film Forming Foam to check the oil spillage on the ill-fated building. Authorities are still trying to clear the mangled remains of the aircraft from the building and the road adjacent to it.

Police and security personnel had a tough time tackling the curious onlookers who tried to take a peek at the goings-on at the site despite the police cordoning off the area.

Formed in 2003, the Sagar Pawan team had last performed at a ceremony on February 19 in Goa to mark the induction of Russian-made MiG 29K combat aircraft of the navy.
