After dilly dallying for last three to four days, Central Home Ministry has just announced the terms and references of Srikrishna’s Commttee on Telangana. After opinion differences propped between the congress core committee leaders day before yesterday, wide discussions were held yesterday and the official terms and references are declared now.
Majorly this five member Telangana committee is constituted with terms and references based on 7 points. As per the Central Home Ministry, committee will demand the status quo condition on the ‘United Andhra Pradesh’ movement on one hand and on other hand the formation of Telangana separate statehood will also be discussed at length.
Committee is to take up the opinions of various sections of the society in the form of wide consultations with women groups, students & student organizations, farmers, minority groups and other politicians. Committee will also analyze the feasibilities of arriving at a political solution for the entire Telangana problem by dealing in detail about the budgets allocated and budgets used in welfare and developmental activities in either regions.
Finally, the committee has to submit the report before its tenure of December 31, 2010.
The honorable members of the committee are: BN Srikrishna, Ranbir Singh, Abusaleh Shariff, Ravinder Kaur and former home secretary Vinod K Duggal as member secretary.
