VP welcomes KCR's decision on making Telugu compulsory subject

Vice-president Of India M. Venkaiah Naidu has welcomed the decision of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to make Telugu a compulsory subject from 1st to 12th standards.

The Vice-President, on Wednesday, Tweeted that other States should emulate the Telangana Government in according top priority to mother tongue. "I hope, Andhra Pradesh Government will take a similar decision at the earliest," he Tweeted.

It may be mentioned that KCR, while holding a review meeting on World Telugu Conference (WTC) on Tuesday, has announced his decision to make Telugu a compulsory subject up to 12th standard. He had also announced that the five-day WTC will be held in Hyderabad from December 15.
