Left dharna over bus fare hike

Khammam, Jan. 11: Left party activists laid a siege to the bus stand here on Monday against the steep hike in bus fares. Raising slogans demanding a rollback of fares, the agitators also staged a dharna in front of the bus stand.The leaders organized a protest rally from their offices to the bus stand raising slogans against the hike in bus fares. Addressing the gathering, Communist Party of India MLA Kunamneni Sambashiva Rao said the government decisions were against the people and development.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) District Secretary Pothinani Sudarshan said additional charges imposed by the government on people in the form of fares was wrong. Wyra Legislator Miss Chandhra Vathi, Khammam Municipal Chairperson, Ms. Afroze Sameena joined the agitation. Traffic was disrupted for some time before the police entered the scene and cleared it.
