Telangana Political JAC Chairman Prof Kodandaram on Saturday said that the people of the State, especially the farmers of the Medak district, had apprehensions on various issues relating to the Mallanna Sagar project and demanded the State Government to allay those fears before going ahead with the project.

Kodandaram was speaking at the protest meet at Gun Park from where advocates left to the Mallannasagar project site.  The JAC chairman said that they were not against the projects but said that the people were not satisfied with the rehabilitation measures undertaken by the state government.

Meanwhile, the police foiled the attempt by advocates to visit Mallanna Sagar and stopped them at Ontimamidi in Medak district. Heated words were exchanged between the police and the lawyers leading to scuffle between the two sides. Speaking to media persons, the protesting lawyers demanded the government not to take hasty decisions relating to the Mallannasagar project and warned that they would fight for the rights of the project outsees if injustice was meted out to the poor and the farmers.
