Solving the irrigation problem is the only solution to tackle the farmers’ suicide, Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said.
Interacting with the media persons here on Thursday, Harish Rao said, “For the supply of irrigation water, we need projects and for construction of projects land acquisition is unavoidable.”
He said that the government was committed to go ahead with the Mallannasagar project adding that the project would be constructed at any cost. The TRS government would give adequate compensation to farmers. He accused the Opposition parties of misleading the farmers on the compensation issue and promised that the farmers would not be at loss.
For the villages coming under submergence, the government was prepared to provide the people there with better facilities. While doing so, the government would amend the law to ensure that the same sarpanchs and MPTCs continued in the developed villages, he said.
Harish said he was indebted to the people of Medak and was doing his best as the Irrigation Minister.
