Hyderabad, Dec 31: Wishing the people of the state a happy, peaceful, healthy and prosperous New Year on Thursday, Chief Minister K Rosaiah hoped that the New Year would continue to be a role model for other states in the country by continuing to make rapid strides in all fields. He said the state is at a crucial juncture in its path of progress and development and hoped the New Year would usher in an era of progress.The state has emerged as the second most preferred investment destination in the country while Hyderabad has become the fastest developing city.

The Chief Minister urged the people to work together to create a peaceful and congenial environment for growth and focus on improving production and achieve all-round development.He said, in the global competitive world, development and welfare are the most important parameters for human development index.He sought to allay fears of the people about the continuation of development schemes taken up by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and said “the government would continue the pace of welfare and development programmes taken up in the last five years.

The Chief Minister said 12 of the 88 irrigation projects taken up under Jalayagnam have been completed and 19 projects are near completion. An additional ayacut of 25 lakh acres has been created and irrigation officials are directed to complete the projects which are in the final stages. Administrative sanction has been given to all the above projects costing Rs 1,79,679 crore, he said.
