Centre defends T-decision

New Delhi,Dec 24: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni on Thursday tried to justify the Centre’s decision to effectively put creation of a separate Telangana state on a backburner saying that consensus was necessary on the issue and ‘bias’ had to be avoided.

Speaking to reporters here, Ms Soni said it was impossible to implement a one-sided decision all of a sudden,by stating that "Any important decision is taken with everybody's consent, after consultations with everybody.”She also hoped that people will ‘accept’ Wednesday night’s statement by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram “slowly and after some time,” when asked to comment on the widespread resentment by people of the Telangana region to the Centre’s decision.
