Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has extended Diwali greetings to all the people in the State.

Given that the state has suffered extensively from Cyclone Hudhud, the Chief Minister has appealed to the people of affected districts not to burst crackers for this Diwali. “Let this light the lamps with confidence that we can overcome and rebuild these districts,” he said.

He added that: “Diwali, the festival of lights, is a symbol of prosperity. It inspires us towards the path of truth and popularizes the ideals of national unity and cohesion. It has a special importance in our culture, as it is a symbol of social harmony and mutual brotherhood.”

The chief minister said that on this solemn occasion, let the lamp of compassion, love and righteousness be illuminated.

“The festival of lights gives us a hope to fight against all odds and rise above the obstacles in our path in order to move forward on the path of progress and prosperity,” he said.

In the evening, the Chief Minister will be taking part in a candle-light rally on Beach Road to show solidarity with people affected by cyclone.
