  The state government would take all measures to protect women from anti-social elements, stated Minister for Home Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy here on Wednesday.

She enquired about the health condition of Rupadevi (name changed), who was knifed by a stalker and undergoing treatment at Balagi hospital in Bashirbad.

The Minister stated that the government would take all steps to protect security of women. She assured the family members of Rupadevi that the offender would be punished according to the law.

Ms Sabita advised the police to conduct awareness meetings in all educational institutions and take stringent action against those who indulge in attacking women.

She underscored the need for awarding serious punishment to those who resort to harass and attacking women.

Rupadevi, who was studying in Dhruvha College of Management, was knifed by Bhanuchander on Sunday when she spurned his advances.

Doctors said she was out of danger and responding to the treatment well.

Police arrested Bhanuchander on charges of attempt to murder Rupadevi.
