Srinivas warns rebels to opt out of race or face action

Hyderabad,Nov 9:Urging the rebel candidates in the fray to withdraw from the contest in the interest of the party,  the Pradesh Congress Committee chief D Srinivas on Monday offered the rebels some sops.Assuring the rebels that the party will recognize  their services and in all probability would accommodate deserving Congressmen as chairpersons for various Corporations,he appealed to the MLAs and  other local leaders to pacify the rebels. The rebels should give up their resentment and work closely with the  party to ensure the success for the congress in the ensuing  Grater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. If the rebels are fastidious and do not withdraw from the contest  then certainly disciplinary action will be taken against them,he sounded a note of warning.

According to the party  sources,D.Srinivas is busy working out various permutations and combinations with the locals MLAs in pacifying the rebels. The candidates nominated by the APPC received the official B-forms on Monday. After the high drama  of  resignation from the presidentship to GHMC selection committee,Minister for Health Danam Nagender had discussions with D Srinvas on Monday over the strategies to be adopted by the Congress for the ensuing elections.Rebels filing nominations as independents,is a problem which is confined not only to Congress but also to Telugu Desam.Parties like the TeluguDesam and the Congress have too many good leaders from every ward while only one ticket can be given. It islearnt that at least in 100 divisions in GHMC limits rebels have filed their nominations as independents both in Congress as well as TDP.

In some divisions the rebel candidates contesting from one division from the same  party exceeded even more than two, upsetting the winning chances of the official candidate. In case of the BJP and other parties, the rebel factor is confined to less than 50 per cent of the wards. With the last day for nominations  being November 10 the  party leaders are busy working out equations with the  rebels.
