Vijayawada, July 10 (TNN): The Cardiology Department of Nri General Hospital and Medical College in association with pacemaker specialist from Kansas City, Ravi K Yarlagadda will organise a two days live workshop of device therapy for heart failure and prevention of sudden death at the 14th annual conference of the Cardiology Society at the hospital in Chinakakani.

Talking to media persons on Friday, Cardiology Department head Mr K Gopala Krishna said that renowned national and international experts would address the cardiologists in the conference.

The use of Silverhawk catheter that had a blade to remove fat deposits from blood vessels in the legs would be demonstrated by expert Avula Surendra, he said. This was the first of its kind in the country, he said.

He said that cardiologists Geetha Bhat, Chicago, USA, an authority on heart transplant, Anushkha Patel, Sydney, Australia, Ravi Bathina, San Francisco, USA, and others would deliver lectures at the conference.

The two-day conference would deliberate upon common problems like Acute Myocardial Infarction.

Mr P Ramesh Babu and Mr R Murali Babu Rao would take part in a debate on ‘Acute Myocardial Infarction.’ Some of the leading cardiologists expected to attend the conference include Mr V Dayasagara Rao from Hyderabad and Mr Sudhir C Sinha from Visakhapatnam.

Dr Ravi Bathina would speak on ‘Cardiac CTA and current role in clinical practice’ at the P Krishnam Raju annual gold medal oration.
