The Nirmal Munsif Magistrate has remanded MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi to 14-day judicial custody in the alleged hate speeches case.

The MIM MLA, who was arrested on Tuesday by the Nirmal Rural Police, was produced before Nirmal Munsif Magistrate Ajesh Kumar on Wednesday morning. He was later shifted to the Adilabad district jail.

Akbaruddin Owaisi requested the magistrate to treat him as a special prisoner in view of his illness and send him to either Chanchalguda or some other jail which has medical facilities.

The police have registered five more cases against the MIM leader. Apart from the two cases under 121 and 153(a), five more cases were registered against him. He was booked under the IPC provision of Sections 124 (Sedition), 120 (b) (Criminal conspiracy), 295 (A) (Injuring or defiling place of worship, with intent to insult the religion of any class), 505 and 188 (Disobedience), according to Karimnagar DIG Bhima Naik.

Akbaruddin was questioned at the Nirmal police station for nearly one hour and was shifted to jail on orders of the court, he said.
