Arogyasri scheme is bed ridden, alleges Sharmila

Ysr Congress Party leader Sharmila on Friday alleged that the present Congress Government was not implementing the Arogya Sri health scheme effectively. She alleged that the State Government does not care a bit about the much sought after Arogya Sri health scheme innovatively introduced and effectively implemented by her father and former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

When Sharmila’s Maro Praja Prasthanam on behalf of Ysr Congress Party entered M Agraharam near Pattikonda in Kurnool district on 23rd day on Friday, a 10-year old girl by name Sai Lakshmi approached Sharmila and narrated her story. The girl, who has a hole in her heart situated abnormally on the right side, was advised a two-time operation during the regime of YSR. When the distressed family approached the health department officials and the issue came to the notice of YSR, he immediately ordered sanction of Rs.5.75 lakh required for the double operation.

The first operation was successfully over but the hapless girl couldn’t get through the second operation till date due to non-release of funds by the Government even after three years after the death of YSR. The parents of the girl told Sharmila that their daughter needed the second operation and they are running from pillar to post to get the required funds released. “But no one is listening to our woes,” they told Sharmila with tears rolling down their eyes.

Sharmila asked them to repose confidence in the leadership of his brother and party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who would surely address all issues when the party attains power.
