Kondandaram condemns arrest of Telangana lawyers

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Saturday demanded immediate release of Telangana Advocates Forum who were arrested while taking out a rally in the Old City in support of the `Telangana March’ scheduled to be held on September 30.

Talking to media persons at Salarjung Museum, Kodandaram took serious note of the "police highhandedness" and resorting to arrest the Telangana activists for taking out a peaceful rally in favour of Telangana March. Though the Telangana Advocates Forum members took the  permission for rally, he criticised the police for arresting the members and demanded unconditional release of all lawyers.

Apart from Advocates JAC members, the police also arrested CPI leader and former MP Aziz Pasha. The Telangana activists alleged that acting at the behest of some Seemandhra leaders, the police obstructed the rally and arrested them.

Meanwhile, the AP Civil Rights Forum city secretary Linganna criticized the police action on the lawyers and termed their arrest as illegal. Stating that the police already gave permission in writing for the Telangana March, he demanded immediate release of all advocates from police custody.
