A local Congress leader was murdered allegedly by Telugu Desam supporters, sparking massive protests on ijayawada-Hyderabad national highway on Monday.The deceased has been identified as Ginjupalli Veeraiah, a former sarpanch of Navabpet  viilage in Penuganchiprolmndal of  Krishna district.
 
According to police sources, Veeraiah was reportedly murdered by his rivals with lethal weapons on Sunday night. The locals who found the body in a temple, informed the police about the  incident .Police said that Veeraiah was allegedly involved in the killing of Aaluri Buchaaiah Choudhar,  a TDP leader who was murdered in the month of September.
 
The family members of Veeraiah alleged that he was murdered by TDP supporters. Protesting the murder of Congress leader Veeraiah, the Congress activists staged dharna demanding the arrest of those who were involved in the murder. The traffic on the national highway was disrupted for more than an hour as the Congress activists staged sit-in agitation on the road and the police had a tough time in controlling  the traffic and  bringing  the  situation  under  control Police have registered a case.
