Nagam slams City Police for stopping his auto-rickshaw

Nagar Kurnool MLA constituency Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday condemned the City Police for obstructing his auto-rickshaw while he was on his way to the State Legislative Assembly to take oath of secrecy.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Nagam said that he had lodged a complaint with Speaker Nadendla Manohar seeking action against the police officials for obstructing his auto-rickshaw. He said that the police behaviour raises doubts among people on whether the State was being ruled by a democratically elected government or the police.

It may be mentioned that Nagam, who resigned from the TDP and assembly membership, won the recently held by-elections as an independent MLA from the Nagar Kurnool constituency and his election symbol was 'auto-rickshaw'. Therefore, his entry into the assembly premises on Monday to take oath in an auto-rickshaw was symbolic.

Condemning the suicide of Bojya Naik, an MBA student of Kakatiya University, in Warangal for the cause of statehood, he slammed the Centre for resorting to delaying tactics in taking a decision on Telangana issue. He demanded that the State Government introduce a Telangana resolution in the Assembly. “If the Centre and State Government do not take proper steps to solving the Telangana issue, the State might witness another political crisis soon,” he pointed out.

Nagam appealed to Seemandhra leaders to cooperate and help in the formation of separate State while respecting the aspirations of people in the region.
