Naidu accepts defeat in by-elections

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu admitted that his party has failed to win the hearts of Telangana people in the by-elections.

Talking to media persons at his residence after the announcement of of by-election results, Naidu said that the party would conduct a review meeting soon over the outcome of by-election results and identify reasons for failure in the region.  However, he expressed satisfaction over the outcome of by-election results and said that the party has improved its position in the region compared to last elections.

Stating that Telangana region was well developed during the TDP's rule, he reiterated that his party has never opposed the formation of separate State. 

Admitting that his party would play limited role in the Telangana formation, he said that the Congress party has to take a decision on Telangana state. He accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of using the by-elections as a tool to strengthen its base in the region.
