The Lok Satta party on Monday expressed concern over non-seriousness of political parties in debating the State Budget on the floor of the State Legislative Assembly.

Talking to reporters at Assembly Media Point, Lok Satta Mla Dr Jaya Prakash Narayana said that the State would be spending Rs 1.45 lakh crore in the next one year. Giving a break-up of the amount, he said the government would be spending Rs 400 crore per day; Rs 17 crore per hour; Rs 28 lakh per minute or Rs 27,000 per second during the financial year 2012-13. Therefore, he demanded that House discuss the State Budget in detail.

However, Dr JP said that the both the ruling Congress and opposition parties have been deliberately avoiding discussion on the budget while diverting the attention on other issues. He also criticised Speaker Nadendla Manohar for adjourning the House frequently without allowing the discussions.

The Lok Satta Mla said that even children were laughing at the behaviour of Mlas in the House and collectively, all parties were proving themselves as a blot on the constitution. He demanded that all political parties should resolve to run the House smoothly and participate in the discussion on budget.
