Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy on Friday stated that Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the murder of Maddelacheruvu Suri, was alive. Talking to media persons here, the DGP denied the reports that appeared in a section of media that Bhanu Kiran was dead. He said that department was making efforts to catch him alive and a police team was already on the job.

Responding to violence of Maoists in the agency areas, he said that the police department was taking all measures to observe movements of Maoists in Andhra-Odissa Border. However, he opined that Maoist violence has come down in the State due to the intensification of combing operations in the border districts. He said that the government would provide additional security at petrochemical plants to prevent any untoward incidents.

The DGP said that a notification for filling up 12,000 posts in the department has been issued. Further, he announced that eight new police sub-stations would be established in the East Godavari district soon.
