Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reiterated that his government was committed for the welfare of all sections of the society in the State.

Speaking on the occasion of 55th anniversary of Andhra Pradesh State formation at the NTR Stadium here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister centred his speech around the new schemes that were started during his regime. He gave a detailed account of schemes including Rajiv Kiranulu aimed at providing jobs for 15 lakh youth, Rs 1-a-kilo rice scheme which would benefit about 2.26 crore people and other measures for the women and students welfare. He also assured the State Government would take all measures to provide relief for the farmers.

Elaborating on the job scheme, which has been named as "Udyoga Jatra" or 'Job Mela' he said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh himself will hand over appointment letters to 1.16 lakh youth in December this year. He condemned the criticism by the opposition parties on his welfare schemes.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the State Government was trying to project Hyderabad as an international investment destination which would lead to creation of jobs and also development. He said that his government was focussed on the overall development of the State. He also praised the police for effective handling of the law and order situation in the State.

Meanwhile, except Danam Nagender and M Mukesh Goud all other ministers from the Telangana region skipped the Formation Day celebrations at the NTR Stadium. PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana, Director General of Police and GHMC Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy also attended the event.

Earlier, before taking the salute of ceremonial parade, the Chief Minister garlanded the statues of Telugu Talli and Potti Sriramulu.

The City Police has made unprecedented security arrangements for the event. Section 144 was strictly imposed in the city and traffic leading towards the NTR Stadium was diverted on other routes since early morning.
