Telangana Rashtra Samithi politburo member B Vinod Kumar on Saturday condemned the police lathi charge and illegal detention of Telangana activists across the region during hoisting of national flag to mark the Hyderabad Liberation Day.

Talking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, Vinod Kumar slammed the government and police department for wielding lathis on Telangana activists who tried to unfurling the national flag to mark the Liberation Day. Taking serious note on police arresting activists, he alleged the government intentionally wants to water down the Telangana agitation by foiling hoisting of tri-colour on Telangana Liberation Day.

Describing the incident as `unfortunate,’ he said the government wants to curtail freedom of expression and speech of citizens granted by the Constitution of India. Demanding withdrawal of police cases and the immediate release of activists, he said that the party would file a petition in the High Court seeking justice.

Vinod was also criticized the State Government for not celebrating the event officially despite the fact that both Karnataka and Maharashtra governments have officially organised Hyderabad Liberation Day events in their respective parts.
