The Telugu Desam Party demanded that the Prime Minister’s Office disclose the minutes of the meeting that Dr Manmohan Singh had with YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy at New Delhi on Thursday.
Talking to reporters at NTR Trust Bhavan, senior TDP leader Dulipala Narendra wondered about the Prime Minister PM giving appointment to a ‘corrupt person’, against whom the CBI probe has already registered a case of disproportionate assets. Saying that the meeting would send wrong message among the people, he asked the Prime Minister to disclose the details of what transpired between them during the meeting.
Narendra also slammed the state government for its failure to resolve the problems being faced by the farmers in Konaseema region. He said instead of extending support to the farmers who have declared ‘crop holiday’ in protest, the government has constituted committees to study their problems. Questioning the rationale behind the appointment of committees, he said the committees would not serve any purpose.
The TDP leader also slammed the Centre for increasing prices of urea and DAP per bag to Rs 150. The increase in prices of fertilizers would burden the farmers further. He also slammed the government for giving permits liberally for establishment of fertilizer mixer plants. He said the liberal permit system would lead the firms to commit irregularities. He appealed to government to impose restrictions on establishment of mixer plants and monitor them regularly.
