After BP Acharya, another senior IAS officer is likely to come under the tentacles of the Central Bureau of Investiation (CBI) which is presently probing the case of alleged amassment of illegal wealth by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Though the IAS officer might not have favoured the Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy, but he has yielded to the pressures of his political bosses. According to sources, the CBI is now probing the role played by the State Information and Public Relations Department in showering undue favours to Jagan Mohan Reddy. Following orders of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the then I&PR Commissioner released advertisements worth crores of rupees to three newspapers.

As per the rules, advertisements are released to the newspapers which had RNI number and registration. However, the IAS official released crores of rupees to the newspapers in violation of the RNI rules. Sources say that the CBI has in now probing the involvement of officials in the entire misappropriation.

Details procured under the Right to Information Act, the then Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy ordered I&PR Department to consider the case of a particular newspaper for enhancing the advertisement tariff and then release of advertisements. Following this order, funds were released to the newspapers. One particular newspaper received 51 advertisements in two years worth more than Rs.2 Crore and another Rs.5 Crore in the same spam. Sources say that the CBI was keen to bring out more skeletons out of I&PR department's cupboard.
