Talking to media persons after launching Swine Flu awareness rally at Gandhi Hospital in the city on Thursday, the Minister stated that some sections of the media portray Swine Flu as a dreadful disease, creating panic among the masses.

They should handle this as a serious issue and try to create awareness among the people instead of blowing it out of proportion, he pointed out. He claimed that the disease can be prevented through appropriate scientific methods. The panic that we witness over Swine Flu is unwarranted, he added. He asked the health officials to contain the pandemic in the state by creating proper awareness among people as the country lacks of adequate health care.

He also called upon voluntary bodies to educate people on the origin of Swine Flu, mode of transmission and spread, effective preventive measures, and the method to tackle it if a person contracts it. The awareness rally, which started from Gandhi Hospital, will conclude at Bolakpur, where the government has organized a medical camp to treat the affected people.
