Questioning Seemandhra Leaders if they would suffer any losses in the event that Andhra Pradesh is bifurcated, Telangana Rashtra Samithi politburo member and former MP Vinod Kumar on Thursday appealed to them to stop objecting to the formation of Telangana as ‘development is only possible with smaller states.’

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Vinod Kumar countered Seemandhra Forum convenor S Sailajanath’s opinion that a separate state cannot be formed based on the sentiments of people by saying that the government has to respect the sentiments and aspirations of the people of the region and work towards fulfilling these.

He stated that Telangana state was a long pending dream of region’s people and that was the reason behind their agitations.

Responding on Seemandhra MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao’s comments that the division of state would pose a threat to the security of the Nation, Mr Vinod Kumar reminded that the Seemandhra Leaders had raised the banner of revolt and separated from Tamil Nadu state after Independence.

“There is no need to learn any lesson from Seemandhra Leaders,” the TRS leader said and asked them to join Tamil Nadu before raising security concerns.

Citing the example of states like Goa and Pondicherry, Mr Vinod Kumar said the good administration would be possible with formation of smaller states.

“The problem could be solved with if the Seemandhra TDP leaders reach unanimity. They had already agreed for the formation of Telangana state by agreeing to the party’s election manifesto in the 2009 elections,” the TRS leader stated.

He appealed to the Centre to announce its decision on Telangana state before conclusion of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
