With the separate statehood protagonists set to intensify their stir on one hand and the ensuing festivals on the other, serious apprehensions are being expressed about law and order situation in the Telangana region in the days to come.

With no decision on the Telangana issue in sight yet, the protagonists of the separate state have already decided to adopt a more aggressive stand.

As per the decision of the Telangana Political JAC pro-Telangana activists, will go on a rampage in Hyderabad and others parts of the region pulling down hoardings, posters which have 'Andhra Pradesh' on them.

These hoardings will be replaced by ones with the words Telangana as a separate state. Following this, the state government has gone on the defensive.

Plans are being chalked out to beef up security in the region and to thwart all sorts of protests.

The TP JAC also directed all government and private employees from the Telangana region to strike work from August 1 till statehood is granted to the region.

This apart, with the ensuing festival season, the Bonalu procession, Ramazan and the Ganesh festivals around the corner, the security scenario will prove more testing for the administration.

The city police have identified 600 places for installing Closed Circuit Televisions in the city. Police expects around 200 more CCTVs to be sanctioned.

City Police Commissioner A K Khan had told media persons on Tuesday that CCTVs would be installed to regulate traffic, control crime control and identification of accused in crime cases.

More than 2,000 CCTVs are expected to be installed in certain areas in a phased manner. The CCTVs would be installed in other areas after covering the more sensitive ones on a priority basis.

Police sources say that Station House Officers of police stations in South Zone have been asked to leave only after midnight to ensure that Bonalu passes away peacefully.

The police officially claims to be prepared for the series of festivals in the coming months. After the 35-day Bonalu festivities, Ramzan would be observed in August followed by Ganesh Chaturthi in September.

Whatever the claims, the endurance of the police department will be tested in the next two months.
