Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday stated that sometimes a small change in the policy may bring a revolutionary change in the lives of individuals, the State and the Country.

Citing the example of ‘Pavala Vaddi’, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the scheme has brought a lot of progress in the lives of one crore poor IKP women in the State.

Addressing the gathering at the ‘ground breaking’ ceremony of the Schulich School of Business-GMR campus at Shamshabad, the Chief Minister said that before 2004, Rs 500 crore was given to women under government lending programme and the recovery rate was only 10 to 20 per cent.

A small change in the policy in the shape of ‘Pavala Vaddi’ led to a revolutionary change in this programme, he said.

An amount of Rs 7,000 crore was lent and the recovery rate was 97 per cent last year and this year an amount of Rs 9,000 crore is being given and expected recovery rate will be 97 or more per cent, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy added.

The Chief Minister, who was the Chief Guest of the ceremony, said that his government strongly believes that education is one factor which will change the family of the individual and the Nation. “This is why the government is focussing on providing quality education to everyone competing with corporate education,” he said, adding that an amount of Rs 3,500 crore is being providing as fee reimbursement and scholarships to 27 lakh students per annum in the State.
