Stating that everyone has freedom to express their opinion in democracy, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Monday stated that he would react at an appropriate time on the resignations submitted by Legislators from Telangana.

The otherwise garrulous MP, known to stir the proverbial hornets’ nest through his words, told media persons at the Congress party office that the time is not right to speak about the resignations.

Mr Rajagopal said that the Constitution has provided the citizens freedom to express their opinion in democracy. “This freedom extends to all leaders and the Telangana leaders have resigned to their posts as part of the freedom given to them,” the MP said.

He added that he would express his feelings of the people of the Seemandhra before the Congress High Command at an appropriate time.

Mr Rajagopal also added that the Congress will celebrate former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s birth anniversary on July 8 on a grand scale in the district.

He revealed that Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana would unveil a bronze statue of YSR at Control Room Centre in Vijayawada on July 8.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi said that there was no threat to the Centre and state government over the resignation of Telangana leaders to their posts. She said that all leaders should bound to decision of Centre on the Telangana issue.
