TDP flag will not fly at Nagara: Harishwar Reddy, Nagam

Telugu Desam Party Parigi MLA K Harishwar Reddy on Monday stated that the `Telangana Nagara’ to be held on May 21 in Parigi in Rangareddy district will be organized under Telangana flag and not under the Telugu Desam Party flag.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of meeting convened to discuss the arrangements for Telangana Nagara at Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, Mr Harishwar Reddy said that the TDP flag would not be hoisted in the meeting as it is organized with various Telangana leaders and is above politics.

However, Mr Harishwar Reddy said that he was not defying the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s diktat, nor was he indulging in any anti-party activities.

He said the party agenda and flag were kept aside due to participation of all Telangana leaders above politics. Incidentally, Mr Harishwar Reddy is a close follower of TTDP Forum convenor Nagam Janardhan Reddy.

He also stated that he would stand by the statement of Mr Janardhan Reddy that the party flag would not be hoisted until TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu writes a letter to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram over the party’s 2008 resolution on Telangana and assures that there will be no objection from him for formation of a separate state.

Speaking later, Mr Janardhan Reddy condemned as ‘malicious’ reports appearing in a section of media about widening rift between him and party president Chandrababu Naidu over the TDP stand on Telangana.

“We are participating in the Telangana agitation as per the party resolution on the Telangana and we are not against party agenda. This will not invite disciplinary action under anti-party activities,” Mr Janardhan Reddy stated.

“I will continue my fight for the Telangana state formation till last breath,” he made it clear.
