Senior Telugu Desam Party Leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao advised his party colleague and senior leader from Telangana Nagam Janardhan Reddy to change his ‘arrogant behavior and style of functioning.’ He also condemned the Telugu Desam Telangana Legislators Forum convenor’s statement that he would only hoist the party flag if party president N Chandrababu Naidu writes to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Telangana resolution adopted by the party in 2008.

Talking to media persons here, Mr Dayakar Rao lamented that the senior MLA should not have set conditions for hoisting the party flags at public meetings organized to push the separate Telangana statehood demands. As a responsible TDP leader, he (Mr Janardhan Reddy) should not have made statement that party flag will not be hoisted in the ‘Nagara at Parigi’ scheduled for May 21, unless Mr Naidu writes to the Union Home Minister, backing the resolution on Telangana adopted by the party in 2008,” Mr Dayakar Rao said.

He also found fault with Mr Janardhan Reddy demanding Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor Kodandaram to seek resignations of leaders from their parties before turning his attention to the TDP leaders from Telangana. Mr Dayakar Rao said that the question of resignations from party should not arise. “The leaders can make efforts for separate statehood agitation by staying in the party,” he stated.

He also questioned, “Mr Janardhan Reddy has been a responsible member of the TDP since a long time. Why has the party flag suddenly become an issue with him? What has it become an obstruction now?” Stating that the party would not spare anybody who violates its discipline, Mr Dayakar Rao opined that Mr Naidu would initiate disciplinary action against Mr Janardhan Reddy. He also added that he would reveal the names of persons who are behind Mr Janardhan Reddy’s arrogant statements and behavior.

Mr Dayakar Rao disclosed that the Telugu Desam Legislature Party meeting, to be convened on May 16, will take a decision on direct participation of TDP leaders in the Telangana agitation.
