Sakshi propaganda violation of Code: Congress complains

The Congress leaders have complained to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal here at the Secretariat on Monday that the Sakshi News channel was giving undue publicity to YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

“This was unholy and unethical as the channel is not giving a true picture and is a violation of the Election Code,” a delegation of Congress leaders told the CEO.

“The channel owned by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy was indulging in character assassination of Congress candidate in Kadapa. These acts were prejudicial and spoiling the prospects of the Congress party and its candidate in the elections,” the delegation said.

Talking to media persons after meeting the CEO, APCC vice-president Madasu Gangadhar and general secretaries R Padmaraju and Gidugu Rudraraju, along with APCC coordinator B Srinivas Goud said that the expenditure incurred by the channel should be accrued to the election expense account of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.

The team also urged the CEO to allow the posting of outsiders as polling agents particularly at the polling stations where locals were reluctant to work as election agents.
