BJP demands white paper on Jalayagnam

Bharatiya Janata Party state unit general secretary Ramachandra Rao on Friday demanded that the state government release a white paper on the prestigious Jalayagnam project works in view of alleged irregularities and nepotism reported in works.

Talking to media persons at party office in Nampally, Mr Ramachandra Rao alleged that the government has cheated the farmers without constructing any dams and irrigation projects. “The prestigious Jalayagnam project has not even provided water to a single acre of land so far,” he said.

Stating that the government has failed to honour its promise of providing water to lakhs of acres, Mr Ramachandra Rao said the government has cheated the farmers with false promises without constructing any irrigation projects.

“If the government has spent any money on the projects, it should disclose all details by releasing a white paper immediately” he said.

Alleging the funds released for Jalayagnum projects were misused and misappropriated, he demanded that the government convene an all-party meeting and appoint a Joint Legislative Committee to probe into the graft allegations.

Mr Ramachandra Rao also alleged that the Jalayagnam project has benefited those contractors and politicians who are close to the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister.
