Telugu Desam Party MP Nama Nageshwar Rao on Saturday claimed that YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy had not revealed the true extent of his assets at the time of filing his nomination papers for the by-election to the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency on Friday.

Talking to media persons at the TDLP, Mr Nageshwar Rao pointed out that the Kadapa leader has declared that he held movable and immovable assets worth Rs 365 crore, besides another Rs 41.33 crore in the name of his wife Bharati.

“The affidavit filed with the district Collector who is the Returning Officer does not include Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s house which is under constructions at Jubilee Hills, the Sakshi newspaper and television channel, his properties in Bangalore and many other assets,” the TDP MP pointed out.

He further said that the affidavit filed by the Kadapa Lok Sabha candidate is full or falsehoods and errors. “How can a man who aims to mislead the Election Commission at the time of filing his nomination be trusted by the voters of Kadapa. He is trying to become an MP on the basis of falsehood and deceit. He will surely deceive the people of the constituency if he is elected,” Mr Nageshwar Rao opined.

The TDP MP further said that his party will lodge a complaint with the Election Commission and point out the true assets held by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.

When a reporter from the media house in question pointed out that the onus was not on the former MP to refute the allegations that he was the owner of the cited properties, Mr Nageshwar Rao lost his cool and said that that he was ready for a debate on the assets held by the Kadapa candidate.

He said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy should publicly declare that he was not the owner of the cited properties. Likewise, other political leaders should refute allegations publicly when such questions are raised against them, the TDP MP stated.
