Basha claims rights to YSR Congress, complaints against Jagan

Mahboob Akbar Basha, who had earlier filed his nomination papers for the Lok Sabha seat from Kadapa has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal at the Secretariat on Friday against former MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr Basha told the CEO that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had no rights to claim former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s name as it was he who had started the YSR Congress Party in November 2010.

The CEO said that he would forward his complaint to the Chief Election Commission of India.

Addressing a media meeting, Mr Basha claimed that it was his prerogative to use the YSR Congress Party as he started it and Mr Jaganmohan Reddy could claim Youth Shramika Rythu Congress and not the YSR Congress.

Stating that he favoured action against Mr Jaganmohan Reddy on this point, Mr Basha said that his news paper carried a report that he had no rights on the party cited. The press report also alleged that Mr Basha had links with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Clarifying on this point Mr Basha said that he was prepared to debate on this, on the condition that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy also agreed to debate on his alleged linkages with Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali.

Clarifying on Akber Mahaboob Basha complaint, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said that the scrutiny would take place on April 19 and the matter would be set at rest after that as Mr Basha had complained to the CEO against Mr YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
