Alleging that former Kadapa MP had resorted to ‘browbeat’ the Congress MLAs into supporting him even as his late father’s last rites were yet to take place, Congress spokesperson Katakam Mrityunjaya on Monday stated that Mr Ys Jaganmohan Reddy will stop at nothing to come to power.

Talking to media persons at the Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Mrityunjaya alleged that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had the post of the Chief Minister uppermost in his mind even as the people of the state were yet to come to terms with the tragic demise of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

It was this burning desire which made Mr Jaganmohan Reddy browbeat the Congress MLAs, who were in a state of shock, to sign on letters extending support for his bid to become Chief Minister, the Congress spokespersons stated.

He pointed out that there was no need for by-elections to be held, but Mr Jaganmohan Reddy realised that he was getting nowhere in his attempts to gain more power and that was the reason he resigned from the Congress and the Lok Sabha, Mr Mrityunjaya stated.

The Congress spokesperson further said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy was projecting himself as taking on the Congress High Command and was expecting the people to fall for his claims. “This is not true, since the people would vote for the welfare and development work which were carried out by the party and not vote for someone who is as corrupt as Mr Jaganmohan Reddy,” Mr Mrityunjaya stated.

He expressed confidence that the Congress would win hands down in the by-elections and added that if the High Command so directed, he and other leaders of the party would indeed campaign for Dr DL Ravindra Reddy and Mr YS Vivekananda Reddy, the party candidates.
