Members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) from Seemandhra regions would boycott the PAC meeting scheduled for Wednesday as a mark of protest against the ‘adamant attitude’ of its Chairman Nagam Janardhan Reddy.

This was revealed to media persons at the Assembly Media Point by PAC member and Congress MLA Anam Ramnarayana Reddy. Mr Ramnarayan Reddy said that the ‘adamant attitude’ of Mr Janardhan Reddy has continued despite protest by the PAC members. Alleging that the PAC Chairman has failed to fulfil his responsibilities, Mr Ramnarayan Reddy said that Mr Janardhan Reddy has failed to convene PAC meetings despite allegations that widespread corruption is taking place in some schemes and projects.

The Congress leader also said that Mr Janardhan Reddy has failed to conduct inspections over these allegations. He added that the members of Seemandhra regions would boycott the Public Accounts Committee meeting on Wednesday in protest against Mr Janardhan Reddy’s failure to inspect implementation of the government projects and schemes properly.

The Congress leader also alleged that Mr Janardhan Reddy has convened the PAC meeting on Wednesday, violating the rules and regulations which clearly state that the any such meeting should not be convened during an ongoing Assembly Session.

Mr Ramnarayan Reddy also questioned the rationale behind the convening of a meeting at a time when Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar has issued fresh notification selecting a new PAC chief, as Mr Janardhan Reddy’s tenure has come to an end.

The Congress MLA further expressed his dismay at the goings on at the PAC by saying that he was unwilling to become a PAC member for a second successive time. He said that he was disappointed since the PAC members have not done carried out their responsibilities properly.

Mr Ramnarayan Reddy further alleged that Mr Janardhan Reddy has lobbied with contractors and alleged that he received kickbacks from these since he was unwilling to inspect the works going on in the various projects.

Meanwhile, senior Telugu Desam Party leader Nannapaneni Rajakumari too trained her guns at Mr Janardhan Reddy and alleged that he has failed to carry out his responsibilities as the PAC chief.

“We have not even inspected a single project,” she said, and added that, “whenever a PAC meeting is convened, Mr Janardhan Reddy gets it adjourned.”

She also said that despite lodging complaints against Mr Janardhan Reddy with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, there has been no change in Mr Janardhan Reddy’s functioning.

However, Ms Rajakumari stated she would attend the PAC meeting on Wednesday.
