Fix deadline, will resign: Yaskhi Goud

Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud on Thursday said that he was ready to resign from his post if the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee sets a deadline by which all Legislators from Telangana should resign.

Mr Yaskhi Goud said that “I am ready to resign from my post and made this clear to the Congress High Command a long time ago. I am ready to make any sacrifice for the cause of Telangana.” Reacting on the demand by his attackers that he should have joined the Million March after tendering his resignation from his post, Mr Yaskhi Goud added, “The TPJAC must set a deadline by which the Legislators from Telangana must resign.”

Condemning the attack on him by pro-Telangana activists on Thursday, Mr Yaskhi Goud said that it was ‘shameful’ that leaders who were sincerely working for the cause of a separate Telangana state were being attacked.

Speaking to media persons at the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue at Basheer Bagh, Mr Yaskhi Goud said that any Telangana leader being attacked by pro-Telangana outfits is shameful.

The MP stated the formation of a Telangana state will not be possible unless and until all Telangana leaders sink their differences and make collective and concrete efforts. “Physically attacking a leader from the region would not help create the Telangana state,” the MP stated.

He appealed to all Telangana JAC leaders to unite and work towards achieving the Telangana state.  “All of us should sink the difference among ourself, that is the only way Telangana can be achieved,” he stated.

The Nizamabad MP pointed out that the Congress MPs from Telangana are already staging dharnas in New Delhi demanding introduction of a separate statehood Bill in Parliament.

He added that the Telangana Ministers would go to New Delhi on Saturday to further pressurise the High Command to introduce the Bill in Parliament.

Later, the police arrested Mr Yaskhi Goud at Basheer Bagh and shifted him to Abids police station.
