Telangana Rashtra Samithi Floor Leader in the state Assembly Etela Rajender on Tuesday stated that despite President Prathibha Patil, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Lok Sabha Speaker Meera Kumar representing women community at the highest levels, many poor women are facing injustice and are exploited in various professions.

Extending his greetings to women on the International Women’s Day Mr Rajender told media persons that the government must draw up stringent laws to check exploitation and launch welfare schemes for the benefit of poor and backward class women.

He appealed to state government to honour its promise of releasing 28 TMC water from Sri Ram Sagar Project to Lower Manair Dam in Karimnagar to meet the agriculture needs of farmers.

Reacting on MLC elections, he said though 60 Telangana Congress representing the Assembly, they have failed to give one seat to any Telangana candidate. “This only proves their levels of commitment to Telangana,” Mr Rajender said.

When asked whether the TRS would seek the support of Telangana Congress MLAs for electing of party candidate Mahmood Ali as MLC, the TRS leader said if they are really committed for the cause of Telangana they will extend their support for him.
