Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi's close aide and party East Godavari district president Jyothula Nehru on Sunday decided to part ways with the PRP and align with former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s yet to be formed party.

Mr Nehru took this decision after consultations with former minister and close aide of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, Pilli Subash Chandra Bose at Irripaka in Jaggaampeta mandal in East Godavari district.  Earlier, Mr Nehru had voiced his opposition to the PRP-Congress merger plans. Analysts had predicted that the merger would have cast a serious doubt on Mr Nehru’s own political future.

Talking to media persons after his deliberations with Mr Bose, Mr Nehru stated that he would organize a massive public meeting in Jaggampeta soon. He would formally join the Jagan camp along with former MLAs and former ZPTC members at the proposed meeting.

Reacting to the news, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is believed to have expressed his joy and stated that the Mr Nehru’s joining him would strengthen the position of his yet to be formed party in the district. Mr Nehru was actively associated with the Praja Rajyam Party as Mr Chiranjeevi's programme committee chairman. He is largely credited with making possible the whirlwind tours undertaken by Mr Chiranjeevi across the state over the past one year highlighting issues. 

Mr Nehru’s organizational skills had been noticed by the Jagan camp, which has been trying to lure him to its fold since a while now, sources say.  According to sources, Mr Nehru’s decision to switch over to the Jagan camp had roused the ire Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.
