KCR's dual stand on 'development' condemnable: Vivekananda Reddy

Nellore Mla Anam Vivekananda Reddy on Saturday condemned the stand taken by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao against the Racha Banda programme.

Speaking to media persons after meeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Congress MLA said that KCR was pushing for a separate state citing under-development of Telangana region even while opposing a programme aimed to bring the benefits of government scheme to the doorstep of the people.

This stand was similar to ‘devil quoting scriptures’, Mr Vivekananda Reddy said.

Referring to the TRS chief’s tirade against leaders from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, the Nellore Mla said that KCR has seemingly lost his balance and was speaking below the stature of a Parliamentarian.

The MLA further said that the TRS chief has no locus standi, as all his party candidates could not win the elections in his own Telangana region.

Mr Vivekananda Reddy pointed out that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi has only 11 MLAs representing the party in the Assembly, out of the 119 seats in the region. This, he said, was a poor representation considering his party's boastful presentation and stand on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The representation by the party and its poor show clearly indicates how popular the TRS or KCR himself is, in Telangana region, Mr Vivekananda Reddy pointed out.
